Enacting a consultation for a training video

A SCORE executive asked Full Duck to aid him creating an illustrated presentation of how to counsel clients seeking advice to start a small business. Full Duck succeeded in keeping within the low budget project by providing a set for shooting a mock counseling consultation, shooting creatively and accomplishing the editing in one short session.

Challenge: Create a low-budget training video of three 3-minute segments to accompany a videoconference presentation for teaching volunteer counselors for the Service Corps of Retired Executives, a service of the Small Business Administration, how to interview and work with a client.

Solution:
Full Duck Productions used a volunteer actress and an actual counselor to enact three parts of an interview: the beginning, a turning point, and the end. Full Duck set up a background for an interview and coached the actress and counselor as they ad libbed lines. Full Duck taped the interview from several angles for variety and to add emphasis to statements. Full Duck edited the video selectively to present the two characters realistically and clarify the interview process. The simple background, varied camera work, and careful editing overcame the lack of a detailed script and helped to keep the budget low.
